Utah Jazz Forward Bojan Bogdanovic will not be returning to the Jazz this season. Bogdanovic will be undergoing surgery on his right wrist that will make him miss the remainder of the season if the NBA returns. Bogdanovic hurt his right wrist earlier on in the season, but decided to keep playing and have surgery when the season was over. But with the NBA unknown to return, he has decided to have surgery now to be ready and healthy at the beginning of the 2020-2021 season.
Bogdanovic was having a career year averaging 20.2 PPG in his seventh year in the league. The Utah Jazz starter signed a 4 year/$73 million dollar deal in 2019, and was fitting in nicely with the team.
How will this affect the Jazz?
Before the NBA season was put on hold, The Utah Jazz was 41-23 standing 4th in the Western Conference standings. Things in Utah are not really the best right now, the drama between Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell, Mike Conley struggling as the new starting point guard, and now they have lost a starter Bogdanovic for the rest of the season.
With all of this drama going on and losing Bogdanovic, I don’t see the Jazz going far this season. I expect them to either advance to the semifinals and lose, or lose in the first round of the playoffs. You are taking a 20 point per game scorer off your team, and with Mitchell and Gobert having issues, I just don’t see good things for the Jazz in the future. I expect Gobert to be traded after this season, because I think Utah would like to keep Mitchell around, and it is cheaper to keep Mitchell.
So if the NBA returns, we will have to see how this works out for the Utah Jazz!
