Top 5 Best Free Agents available for the NBA’s return

The NBA is set to return on July 30th in Walt Disney World, Florida to finish out the rest of the 2019-2020 season. The NBA is bringing back 22 teams, 13 in the West and 9 in the East to fight for the last spots in the NBA Playoffs. With bringing back these teams, they are still allowed to bring in free agents to their team. NBA teams are now allowed to bring in 17 players to their team which means you could see some free agents picked up to help a team contend for an NBA Title. So which should teams bring in for their championship run? This is my top five list of free agents available on the market.

Honorable Mention

Kenneth Faried

Kenneth Faried may not be the same guy like he was in his early days in Denver, but he can still be a valuable asset. Faried averaged 12 PPG while grabbing 8 boards a game last year for the Houston Rockets in 25 games. He is a guy who works hard on the glass, gives his best effort, and can provide you valuable minutes at the forward/center position.

Darren Collison

Darren Collison shocked NBA fans by announcing his retirement in the 2019 NBA off season. He was interested in returning to play for the LA Clippers or Lakers back in January and February, but decided to stay retired. With the NBA returning in July, he may come out of retirement. Collison last played for the Indiana Pacers in 2018-19 averaging 11 points and six assists a night. Collison is a solid point guard, who can score the ball and defend. He can provide solid minutes off the bench and can be a great replacement if someone gets hurt.

5. Nick Young

Nick Young is one of the most interesting players in the NBA, but the guy was NBA champion in 2018 with the Golden State Warriors. He last played for the Denver Nuggets in 2018-19 playing 4 games averaging 2 points a game. He may not be the most amazing player, but he is a valuable shooter off the bench, and can step up in the clutch.

4. Lance Stephenson

Lance Stephenson is another interesting character in the NBA as we know him for doing silly things on the floor. But the guy can play the game of basketball. He spent the past season in China, becoming a household name in China. Stephenson provides energy, defense, and can provide 8-10 points off the bench.

3. Isaiah Thomas

Isaiah Thomas may not be the same guy from Boston who averaged almost 30 points a game in 2017, but he can still score the ball. Thomas has bounced around from team to team since his hip injury, but he can still play the game of basketball. He last played for the Wizards this season averaging 12 points a game, while starting a few games in the place of John Wall. He is a guy who score and shoot the ball exceptional and can really step up in the big time.

2. Jamal Crawford

Jamal Crawford has played in the NBA for a very long time, but it doesn’t mean he can’t play. The three time sixth man of the year averaged around 8 points a game in 2018-2019 playing for the Phoenix Suns. Crawford is amazing ball handler and can give you lots of scoring off the bench. Don’t forget he scored 51 points in his last game with the Suns last year.

1. Demarcus Cousins

Demarcus Cousins is the best free agent on the market. The last team he played for was the Los Angeles Lakers before being cut by the team after he was going to be out for the whole season after an ACL tear before the 2019-2020 season. When he played for the Golden State Warriors in 2018-19, he averaged around 16 points and 8 rebounds a game. He may have dealt with injuries that have hurt his worth on teams, but when healthy, the guy can really play. Don’t forget he is a four time NBA All-Star and was averaging 25 and 12 a game two seasons ago. He can finish at the rim, rebound, and defend down low. He would be the best guy you can get on your team.

It won’t be too much longer until the NBA returns! Just a few more weeks and we will be watching basketball again!

Also how many players are going to sit out for the Black Lives Matter movement?? I will be curious to see who does so.
