The New England Patriots won their sixth NFL championship as a franchise last season as they won a close game against the Los Angeles Rams, 13-3. The Super bowl game probably was one of the most boring games probably I have seen watching, but it was ok as my favorite team the Patriots won the title. It was crazy to think the Patriots won the Super Bowl last season, I personally thought the Patriots were not strong enough to make it to the Super Bowl. The Patriots got beat by the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl the year before last and everyone thought when they lost, that the Patriots dynasty was over. But it seems like no matter who the Patriots have on their team, they always end up as contenders. The Patriots are easily the most hated team in football as they always win. There was a lot of media noise as the media was trying to break up Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, but they block out the noise and Brady and Belichick led their team to another championship.
But now last season is over and it is on to the next season, and once again the Patriots are considered the favorite to win the Super Bowl. But do they have enough gas left in the tank? The Patriots to be honest had a lot of luck last year with winning it all. They took down an upcoming star in Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs on the road in the AFC Championship and the upcoming young stars in the Los Angeles Rams in the Super Bowl. You definitely saw some signs as Tom Brady starting to age out, and he wasn’t able to be the same quarterback like he has been. But the Patriots defense in the Super bowl was tremendous as they carried Tom Brady to his sixth ring.
People I don’t think realize how important this season is for the New England Patriots, you never know, this could be one of the last runs for the Patriots. Tom Brady is getting older and isn’t going to be that hero like has been for New England all throughout these years. It’s going to be interesting to see how this season goes as if he has enough gas left to bring this team back to the Super Bowl.
So what are the Patriots going to have to do to bring an NFL Championship? These are the three things that the Patriots need to do bring home the seventh ring.
Learn how to play without Rob Gronkowski
As you may or may not have heard the news, Rob Gronkowski has decided to retire from the NFL. Losing Ground hurts the Patriots as he was one of the most dominant Tight Ends in the NFL. Him and Tom Brady always clicked well together, Tom Brady always looked for Gronk if they needed a big play because Gronk is so big and strong that it makes it hard for people to defend him. The Patriots are going to have to get use to not playing with one of their go to guys, that means guys like Julian Edelman, Josh Gordon, and Demaryius Thomas are going to have to step up and bring in some yardage and touchdowns to make up of the retired Rob Gronkowski. It will be difficult to play without him, the Patriots will always seem to find a way to play well.
The Defense needs to their job and defend
The Patriots lost some key defenders who played a big part to their Championship team last season. They lost Cornerback Eric Rowe, Defensive End Trey Flowers, and Left Tackle Trent Brown. They might’ve lost those three guys, but they added a good player to their team when they traded for Defensive End Michael Bennett. He is a former Super Bowl champion with the Seahawks and a three time pro bowler. He will. be a great add to the team, but not one guy will help bring a championship to this franchise, It takes the whole defense to help bring in the championship. The Patriots defensive has been known for choking near the end of games, but they always seem to do enough to get the wins. The Patriots need to be strong once again on defense, if they don’t do that I don’t think that the Patriots will be able to be a strong contender as the offense will be looking to be a little bit weaker. I don’t have a doubt that the Pats will be. bad, but they NEED to be really good this season.
Continue to ignore the media
No matter what the media always tries to get the Patriots to turn on each other, but it never really works as the Patriots always prove the haters wrong. The Patriots like I said are the most hated team in the NFL. They are like the Golden State Warriors of football, they are always tired of seeing the same team winning and everyone is against them and want to see them fail. As we will know the Patriots will have to face the hate and they can’t let the media get inside their head because they know that if they lose, the media will be ready to write so many stories saying that the dynasty is “over”.
Do I think that this season will be the end of the dynasty for the Patriots if they lose? I don’t think it will be, but I think that Tom Brady is going to probably play 2-3 more years and I don’t know if he will possibly see to get another ring. But I am confident the Patriots will be right there to win the NFL championship. I mean just think about it, the Pats are so well coached and led by of the greatest quarterbacks of all time in Tom Brady, they always are contenders. No matter who the Pats have, they seem to never miss a beat and turn out to be a great team every year. Let’s wait and see if the Pats will be able to be one of the top teams in the NFL, but I am confident that it can happen.
