Going into the day, if you told me that I was going to meet Dwyane Wade, I would’ve never believed you. This was one of the coolest days of my life, and definitely a day I won’t forget.
This photo was taken back on March 12th, 2017, when Dwayne Wade was on the Chicago Bulls. It was a regular season game when the Chicago Bulls took on the Boston Celtics at TD Garden. This game was some what of an important game as the Celtics were looking to get into first place in the Eastern Conference, as the Bulls were looking to get in the playoffs.
My dad bought these tickets at a golf auction, as these tickets had a postgame access pass to meet the Bulls Assistant Coach Jim Boylen, who is originally from Maine and is currently the Bulls head coach. It was four tickets so it was my Dad and I, and my friend and his dad.
We got to the game and had pretty good seats. Unfortunately though we weren’t able to get in early to get some autographs. As we watched the game, The Celtics blew them out of the water. They were hitting every shot, playing fantastic defense, and Chicago had no answer for Boston. It was so bad of a blowout that the Celtics fan were doing the wave around the arena, and the Celtics players on the bench were joining the wave. LOL.
The Celtics won the game 100-80 as Isaiah Thomas scored 22 points in 24 minutes. The Bulls played so bad that Dwyane Wade scored 8 points, and Jimmy Butler scored 5 points. It was a terrible game for them LOL.
When the game finished, I remember us possibly talking about wanting to leave and not stay to meet the Bulls Assistant Coach, but I’m sure glad that we ended up doing that. We waited about 25-30 minutes for Jim Boylen to come out and probably only talked to him for three minutes, and it was really awkward. After we finished talking to him, we noticed that some players were coming out and saying hi to some guest. Players we saw were Jonas Jerebko, Nikola Mirotic, and Michael Carter-Williams. My friend and I were really shy, but we decided to walk up to Michael Carter Williams and get his autograph. He didn’t say anything to us, but we had to get an autograph.

While we were there, there was a group of these third graders waiting for someone, its turns out that they were waiting for Dwyane Wade. So my friend and I stuck around to wait for Dwyane Wade to come out. A guy who works for the Celtics came out of the tunnel and took the kids to go meet Dwyane Wade. My friend and I were about to go back, until my dad asked one of the mom’s of the kids group if we could go with them to meet him.
Her response was “As long as I can go home soon and have my wine, I’m ok with it.”
My friend and I got so hyped, as we went with her to this tunnel to where all the players were walking out to their bus. While we waited for Dwyane Wade, we saw some more players like Amir Johnson, Jae Crowder, and Avery Bradley walking out to their cars with their kids. My friend and I wanted their autographs, but we didn’t want to disturb them as they had their kids with them.
Then finally Dwayne Wade walked out and my friend and I got shell shocked seeing him walk towards us. He had a pair of Beats in his hands, as he set them down to sign our hats. He said Hi to us and asked us what our names were, and it was just so surreal. I asked him if I could take a picture with him, but he said he was busy so he basically swerved us to take a picture with the 3rd graders instead LOL. I ended up giving my phone to a lady for us to join the 3rd graders in the picture. After that picture, I looked at the photo and I was like No I got to get a picture of just me and him to not make it look like I hopped in some third graders photo. As he went back to get his beats, I snagged a quick selfie of him and I got my picture with him LOL.

He wasn’t really thrilled that I took a photo of him, after he said that he was too busy to take a photo with me, but it was well worth it.
After that we tried to get Jimmy Butler’s autograph, but he was stuck talking to the media so we didn’t bother.
This day was really cool, a day that I will never forget and still doesn’t feel real that I got his autograph and met him in person. 12 days later I ended up seeing Devin Booker drop 70, but this still topped that moment.
