Pacers comeback falls just short, Heat take commanding 3-0 series lead

The Indiana Pacers were down by nearly 20 points and cut their lead as close as 2, but it wasn’t enough. The Miami Heat used their stellar shooting to take down the Pacers 124-115 in Game 3 to give Miami a commanding 3-0 series lead.

The Heat were lead by Jimmy Butler with 27 points, Goran Dragic had 24, Bam Adebayo scored 22, while rookie Tyler Herro came off the bench and poured in 20. For the Pacers they were lead by Malcolm Brogdon who had a game high 34 points, while TJ Warren added 23.

My Thoughts

Wow the Indiana Pacers are going to probably be swept out of the first round AGAIN.

I know the Pacers are playing without their All-Star Domantas Saboni, but I don’t think that will make a difference in this series at all. The Pacers have a talented team, but they don’t have that dominant guy that can take over a game. Victor Oladipo is a guy that could do that, but he’s still not 100% healthy. Malcolm Brogdon is close to All-Star potential, but he’s not a guy that can take over a guy. TJ Warren hot bubble games are over now, and the Pacers are struggling. I personally think they shouldn’t have been so quick to extend Coach Nate McMillan’s contract, because I feel like they may need a new coach for a better direction. They have not made it past the first rounds IN FIVE YEARS. The Pacers need to trade for a super star or get a new coach, because things aren’t working in Indiana.

For the Heat, they look like a good team and they COULD upset the Milwaukee Bucks. They have a deep roster with a lot of good shooters, and they have the defenders to guard Giannis. I would not be surprised if they end up in the Eastern Conference Finals. I am really impressed with Duncan Robinson and Tyler Herro, those guys can get hot and they don’t miss many wide open shots. Another impressive thing from the Heat is Rookie of the Year candidate Kendrick Nunn has not played a single minute in this playoff series. Don’t sleep on Miami.

Giannis propels Bucks by the Magic, take 2-1 series lead

The top seed Milwaukee Bucks have taken control of the series. The Bucks used a strong second quarter and never looked back, as they picked up the 121-107 victory over the Orlando Magic. The Bucks have now taken control of the series, taking a 2-1 series lead after falling to the Magic in Game One.

For the Bucks, they were lead by MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo as he scored 35 points while grabbing 11 rebounds. Khris Middleton added 17, Brook Lopez had 16, and Eric Bledsoe chipped in with 14 points. For the Magic, guard DJ Augustin led the way with 24, as Nikola Vucevic and and Terrence Ross each had 20.

My Thoughts

Not surprised about the outcome. I knew when the Bucks lost Game One, it didn’t really mean anything, because they are playing against the Orlando Magic. It’s no offense to the Magic, but they just don’t really have that guy who is a “Super star” talent. The series is not over, but I expect Milwaukee to close out these next two games.

But I will say this, Bucks fans should be worried on the way they have been playing for the future rounds. They play too comfortably when they are up so much. The Magic were making a run cutting it to single digits in the 4th quarter, after trailing by 30 points. They can’t be doing that when they are playing a team like the Raptors, Celtics, or Heat, because they can turn things around in a hurry if the Bucks play too comfortable.

I expect the Bucks to win this series, but they have to play better when having a big lead.

Celtics end the game on a 10-0 run to close out the 76ers, take 3-0 series lead

The Philadelphia 76ers are now one loss away from being eliminated in the NBA playoffs. The Boston Celtics ended Game 3 on a 10-0 run to pick up the 102-94 victory over the Sixers, taking a commanding 3-0 lead. Kemba Walker led the way for the Celtics pouring in 24 points, while Jaylen Brown chipped in with 21.

For the 76ers, Joel Embiid had a game high 30 points, as Shake Milton and Josh Richardson each had 17 respectfully.

My Thoughts

For Sixers fans, this had to be heartbreaking. The Sixers weren’t shooting the ball very well from the field, but they were still playing hard and competing with the Celtics. The Sixers had the game in the bag, but the Celtics defense stepped up and hit some big shots in the crunch time. Also I have to mention this, the refs tried so hard to give this game to the Sixers!

Jayson Tatum had three early fouls, Daniel Theis fouled out late in the game, and the Sixers had nearly almost 20 more free throws than the Celtics. Now I know that there was some bad calls both ways, but they were trying to give that game to the Sixers so bad. But if you shoot 29% from the field, you aren’t going to win many games.

For the Celtics that was a big run to end the game, but they have to a lot better crashing the glass. The Sixers had a lot of offensive rebounds, and the Celtics got very lucky that the Sixers missed out on a lot of opportunities to extend a lead. They were struggling shooting the ball as well, but it was enough to get the win.

If the Celtics take Game 4 and complete the sweep, the Sixers are going to have quite an offseason. Sixers head coach Brett Brown is FOR SURE getting fired. They may be moving Joel Embiid or Ben Simmons. You could see them try to get rid of Al Horford or Tobias Harris. I’m not sure what you will be seeing this off season for the Sixers. This season was filled with high hopes, and this season turned into a disaster.

Game 4 will be Sunday at 1:00 as the Celtics will be looking to complete the series sweep against the Sixers.

Phillies in talks with Red Sox on acquiring pitcher Brandon Workman

The Boston Red Sox have been struggling all year, and they could be looking to get rid of one of their best bullpen pitchers. The Philadelphia Phillies and the Red Sox are in trade talks, as the Phillies are looking to acquire bullpen pitcher Brandon Workman. The Phillies are 9-12 on the season, and they are looking to make a push for the playoffs.

the Right Handed reliever Workman has pitched 6.2 Innings, 4.05 ERA, in 7 games for the Boston Red Sox this year.

My Thoughts

Pretty stupid idea for the Red Sox considering Workman is one of their best pitchers in the bullpen LOL. Are they trying to be awful or something? Because the thing the Red Sox needs IS SOME PITCHING. If they end up trading Workman, it will not make any sense, since the Red Sox have absolutely no one to pitch for them. If ANYTHING, they need to trade some players in the lineup for some pitching. The Red Sox continue to be a joke this year, and their future is not getting any brighter with the way things are going!

Anthony Davis, Lakers dominate as they cruise by Trailblazers in Game 2, picks up first playoff victory since 2012

The last time the Los Angeles Lakers won a playoff game was on May 17th, 2012 as Kobe Bryant and the Lakers took down Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 3 of the Western Conference semi-finals. They went on to not win another game for the rest of the series, and it was the last time in eight years that they won a playoff game, until last night.

The Los Angeles Lakers cruised by the Portland Trailblazers, 111-88, in Game 2 of the Western Conference first round series to even the series at 1-1. Lakers star forward Anthony Davis led the way for as he had 31 points, 11 rebounds, in just 29 minutes of action. Lakers guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope added 16, J.R. Smith put in 11, as Lebron James and JaVale McGee chipped in with 10 each.

For the Trailblazers, who will be looking to re-gain control of the series in Game 3, was led by star point guard Damian Lillard with 18 points. guard CJ McCollum added 13, as Anfernee Simons scored 11 off the bench.

My Thoughts

The Los Angeles Lakers CAME TO PLAY.

The Lakers as expected came out firing after a disappointing Game One loss to the Trailblazers. Anthony Davis was locked in the whole game and absolutely killing the Trailblazers big men. One thing I was impressed with was the Lakers were knocking down their shots and playing hard, except for Danny Green obviously lol. Lebron James had an off night last night, but it didn’t really matter as the Lakers came out firing from the start. I personally think it was the best the Lakers have looked in the bubble.

For the Trailblazers, I do think they looked tired last night. They have been playing with a lot of fire lately as they having been fighting for their playoff lives the whole time in the bubble. Damian Lillard dislocated his left index finger in last night’s game, which will make things a little bit more interesting. He has been having the hot hand in the bubble, and this may affect the way he shoots and plays in this series. I expect the Blazers to come out playing a lot better in Game 3 as they will be looking to make the first round upset.

Game 3 will be tomorrow at 8:30 P.M. as the Lakers and the Blazers will fight to take the series lead.

Washington Football coach Ron Rivera reveals he has cancer, says he will continue coaching

The year 2020 just hasn’t been the year for a lot of people. The Washington Football head coach Ron Rivera has announced that he is diagnosed with cancer. Rivera was diagnosed with a squamous cell carcinoma located in the lymph node. As disappointing as this news may be Rivera says that the will continue coaching the Washington Football team this season.

The Washington Football team is adjusting to new changes this season as they got rid of the previous team name “The Washington Redskins” changed it to the “Washington Football team”. They will be looking to improve on the season after showing a disappointing 2019-20 going 3-13 on the season.

My Thoughts

Definitely some scary stuff to hear from head coach Ron Rivera. Not news or something anyone wants to hear or get, so my prayers are to him as hopefully he will be free of cancer soon. It’s good that he is going too continue on coaching the team this season, because if he is at home not doing the things he loves, it’s going tot make him more miserable. I don’t know if he will coach the whole season, depending on how his treatments go, but I hope things will turn out the best for him.

Timberwolves will select first in 2020 NBA Draft, Warriors and Hornets secure a pick in the top three

The Minnesota Timberwolves are already off to a good start this offseason. The 2020 NBA Draft Lottery was announced Thursday night, and the Minnesota Timberwolves will be the first pick in the NBA Draft this October. The Golden State Warriors will be the second pick in the draft, while the Charlotte Hornets will select third. This will be Minnesota’s first pick since 2015 when they took their franchise star Karl Anthony-Towns.

2020 NBA Draft Lottery Results

1. Minnesota
2. Golden State
3. Charlotte
4. Chicago
5. Cleveland
6. Atlanta
7. Detroit
8. New York
9. Washington
10. Phoenix
11. San Antonio
12. Sacramento
13. New Orleans
14. Boston from Memphis

The New York Knicks can never get anything right lol. There was hopes of maybe the Knicks could jump all the way to the top 3 to get a guy like Anthony Edwards or Lamelo Ball, but now they will have to settle for whoever will be the best available when the 8th pick comes. The Boston Celtics will have the Memphis Grizzlies pick this year, which will make the Grizzlies have to trade for a first round pick or sign some free agents this off season to improve. The Chicago Bulls secure the 4th pick in the draft, which will be key for them as they look to improve their roster with a new coach to come. The Detroit Pistons got news they did not want to hear as they were hoping to get a top 3 pick. The Pistons could possibly trade this pick or look to make a wise pick to bring this back to playoff contention.

Who will the top 3 picks take in the draft?

My Predictions

  1. Minnesota Timberwolves -Anthony Edwards

The Minnesota Timberwolves acquired point guard D’Angelo Russell, a 2019 NBA All-Star, from the Golden State Warriors at the trade deadline this past season. With the Timberwolves now have Karl Anthony-Towns and D’Angelo Russell as their one-two punch, the Timberwolves will be looking to bring in a shooting guard. I believe the guy they will take with the first pick is Anthony Edwards from Georgia. He is an excellent 3-level scorer who has a high ceiling in the NBA. I don’t think that the Timberwolves will immediately be a playoff team after they select Edwards, but if they keep the same group together, they could be a good playoff team in the West in the future. I don’t see them taking James Wiseman, because they don’t really need a center right now. They could go after one in free agency. They may surprise some people and take Lamelo Ball, but I don’t think Lamelo wants to go to Minnesota because he won’t get to play the way he wants to play.

2. Golden State Warriors – James Wiseman (IF THEY KEEP THE PICK)

Injuries put the Golden State Warriors in the lottery this year, but this next season they will be right back contending for an NBA title. The dynamic back court in Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson will be back and healthy, as they will be ready to compete for their fourth NBA title. Defensive anchor Draymond Green will be back, as new acquisition from the Timberwolves will be looking to shine in his new role on the team. The Warriors need a center and the perfect guy to take is James Wiseman from Memphis. He’s a great rim protector, solid post scorer, and is capable hitting the outside shot. The Warriors don’t really need a guard unless they want a good backup in Anthony Edwards or Lamelo Ball if they happen to fall to them. But the Warriors could trade this pick for another key player. I mean we all saw them quickly trade away D’Angelo Russell as trade bait, and I could see them trade the second pick for a star player. I will not be surprised if they trade this pick, and if they do I will be curious to see who they take.

3. Charlotte Hornets – Obi Toppin

The Charlotte Hornets were not expected to make this high of a pick, but here they are. I don’t see them taking a guard because they seem pretty set on Devonte Graham and Terry Rozier. So I see them taking Obi Toppin from Dayton. The Hornets could use a strong small forward and that guy is Obi Toppin. He went to a smaller Division One school, but he plays very aggressive and has he ability to have a long NBA career. I know the Hornets are trying to build this team future as they no longer have Kemba Walker anymore, so I feel like Obi Toppin will be a great start to building the team’s future. Lamelo Ball could be taken with this pick, but I don’t know if the Hornets will take him because he will most likely have to come off the bench or trade Graham or Rozier to make Ball fit in.

The NBA Draft will be in October, but there is still lots of basketball still to be played as many teams will be looking to win an NBA title.

Go Celtics!

Will there be a College Football season?

COVID-19 may be taking away another sports season from us. With concerns of the coronavirus spreading, many NCAA football leagues have decided to cancel their football season in the fall in hopes of having their season being played in the spring time. Leagues like the Big Ten, Pac 12, Moutain West, and others are some of the leagues that will not suiting up on the field this fall.

But there is some football leagues that have decided to continue on with the fall season, but shortening the games. Leagues like the Big 12, SEC, Sun Belt were motivated to continue on with the fall football season, so their student-athletes can have the opportunity to suit up and get the chance to play. But even though some of the leagues are going to continue on with their season, but it does not mean that the season will happen.

I feel like some of these leagues are going to fall into the peer pressure of cancelling the season if there is an outbreak on the university campus or football season. Which I personally think it will be dumb if they decide to cancel the season. Because here is the thing, if college students can return to campus, they can play their fall sports season.

Like I don’t see the problem with having no fans at college football games and still being able to have the season. Every single sports league is doing it, why can’t college sports do the same thing? If the college football athletes don’t want to play, because they are concerned then they don’t have to play. Just like how they get the choice if they want to play sports in college.

There is Division I athletes that want to play because one, they may be trying to make it to the NFL and they need to play this season to help their draft stock, and two, this is something the athletes need right now. These past few months have just been awful with many people having to quarantine, stay home, and work from home. This is something good in the world that the athletes need and what the fans need.

The Coronavirus is not going away any time soon, and a vaccine for this virus may not come for a long time. We all thought this would go away for two weeks, that turned into a few months, into a possible year now. Life needs to go on. We can’t be constantly be living in fear about this virus. We can’t keep cancelling everything or staying home, because in the long run. Many leagues, universities, and businesses are going to lose a lot of money off of cancelling many things.

I also think that if you don’t have a college football season in the fall and move it to the spring, it is not going to work. There is going to be way too many sports going on at once, and for the athletes that are trying to try out for the NFL are not going to have time to get ready for the NFL draft and the season in about a month or two.

I think there should be a college football season this year, but many NCAA leagues are going to fall in the peer pressure and cancel the season. I think it would be dumb for them to cancel it, but it is the way the year 2020 is going and the way people think now because of this virus.

Celtics’ Hayward out four weeks due to Grade III ankle sprain

The “Hospital” Celtics are back at it again. Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward will miss about four weeks after suffering a Grade III ankle sprain against the Philadelphia 76ers last Monday. Hayward suffered the injury late in the 4th quarter in the Boston Celtics 109-101 Game One victory over the Philadelphia 76ers. With Hayward now out for the rest of the first round, it could make the Sixers-Celtics playoff matchup a little bit more interesting.

Gordon Hayward can’t catch a break, I swear this guy is made of glass. He missed all of the 2017-18 season after suffering a gruesome ankle injury in the season opener. He missed a majority of this season after breaking his left hand. Now he almost broke his right ankle, and he is going to miss a majority of the playoffs.

Losing Gordon Hayward will hurt the Celtics as they do not have much of a bench. But it doesn’t mean they can’t contend for an NBA title. They still have star talent with Tatum, Brown, and Walker that can help carry the load with Hayward being out for a few weeks.

The Boston Red Sox are a joke this year

Guys I was wrong about my MLB predictions on the Boston Red Sox, I was SO wrong. The Boston Red Sox are currently standing in last place of the AL East standings with a record of 6-17. I thought that this team could actually maybe still pull through as they still had a solid lineup with their poor pitching, but that doesn’t even matter at all. This team is absolute garbage and it’s been so bad this season that I don’t even watch this team anymore. It’s been such a long time since I saw the Red Sox post on their Instagram that they won a game. (FYI they are on a 8 game losing streak as of August 18th)

This isn’t the player’s fault though, it’s the organizations fault for putting together this team. This disaster all started when they traded away their franchise star/MVP Mookie Betts, because they didn’t want to pay the guy. They thought they had this plan that they could re-sign him in 2021, but that completely backfired as he signed a big whooping contract extensions that will keep on the Dodgers for the next decade. So now the Red Sox lost their star player for almost absolutely nothing because all they asked for in return was Alex Verdugo (an outfielder) and some prospects.

It didn’t make sense to me, because all the Red Sox needed this past season was some pitching. They didn’t make any moves this off season to sign or trade for a bullpen pitcher. Like not even in the Mookie trade did they try to acquire some pitching, like if you are going to trade away your star, at least get some pitching or other good players in return. I thought they could make it work with their lineup they have, but obviously not because even the lineup can’t do anything.

I mean right now the best player on the Red Sox is probably Mitch Moreland, who is batting almost around .300 with about 6 homers. After that it’s probably Alex Verdugo and Kevin Pillar who have been having a decent season. Xander Bogaerts and JD Martinez have done ok this season, but it’s not their best. It’s not pretty, but its prettier than the bullpen that’s for sure.

Besides Nathan Eovaldi, DOES ANYONE KNOW WHO EVEN PITCHES FOR THIS TEAM!? I swear all these guys on the mound are the Pawtucket Triple-A team. I’m pretty sure some of those guys were even playing for the Portland Sea Dogs last year. That’s how awful the pitching is. The Red Sox are missing pitchers Chris Sale and Eduardo Rodriguez due to health issues, but even if they were healthy, they couldn’t save the Red Sox terrible bullpen. Also do the Red Sox even have a closer? Last I remember Craig Kimbrel was our last closer we had, and that was back in 2018…..

The Red Sox are going to be looking to trade away players now and just tank. I have heard rumors that they are looking to get rid of J.D. Martinez and Jackie Bradley Jr (two guys that the Red Sox decided to keep over Mookie). JBJ has been in the trade talks for years now and it is time to let him go. He has a great glove, but his batting average has been so low for years now. They need to start by getting some pitchers, and hopefully be able to get a solid player in the offseason.

But we all know that the Red Sox sign some players to bad contracts in the offseason like Carl Crawford, Pablo Sandoval, Rusty Castillo, Hanley Ramirez, I could keep going but I probably would get more triggered LOL.

At least the Celtics and Bruins are playing well!!
